Sobriety Sports Tours is based in Charlotte, N.C.

It is a division of Broach Sports Tours (www.broachsportstours.com), which has been one of the leaders in the sports-travel industry since 1992. The two companies operate as separate entities.

Sobriety Sports Tours is operated by someone with a deep appreciation for 12-step programs, and who is grateful for his sobriety. John D. also has deep roots in the fields of travel and major sporting events after covering Super Bowls, Final Fours, NBA Finals, Wimbledon, U.S. Open golf and tennis, the Masters and other premier events during 28 years as a sports writer for various newspapers, magazines and websites.

John will serve as the chief tour guide/event organizer on all Sobriety Sports Tours trips, but others with long-term sobriety will assist as tour guides when necessary, depending on the size of the group and duration of the trip.

Broach Sports Tours handles more than 50 tours per year, specializing in custom baseball, golf and tennis trips. Tom Broach built the company from scratch. Carlos McCracken serves as the director of tennis and golf, Melanie Hicks runs the office, and Stevette Mathis has become legendary as the tour guide on most baseball tours. Their enthusiasm is infectious.
